What's Up Wednesday

LEFTOVERS!! When my mom's family gets together we have TONS of food. We had our Easter this past Saturday so it's leftovers for a few days. We had a meat tray for sandwiches leftover so we will be eating sandwiches and chef salads. We also had my moms yummy pimento cheese left over and I love it with chips. Not to mention some cake and pie was sent to my house. Luckily the boys will eat those!

This was just 5 years ago. When did my boys get so big??

And this picture was Sunday. Time surely flies!

It's SPRING BREAK! I'm loving the time with the boys and the lazy days!

Easter Parties, family time, eating and playing!

All 4 grandchildren at my mom's house.

Who makes their boys stop in the middle of a egg hunt for a picture? ME!!

Jackson wanted to eat at the Cracker Barrel.

And we've been putting Lego's together.

I started cleaning out clothes for the boys. I have no clue where I'm going to put all of the summer clothes for them. I even got 2 trash bags to donate.

I cleaned out the half circle flower bed last week. I'm going to plant flowers there. And Jackson wanted a little garden so that's the raised bed. Michael built is Saturday morning and I cleaned it out yesterday.  Now we have to add some dirt and decide what to plant.

Planting flowers and some veggies! In the half circle bed I'll probably plant some lantana and transplant some day lilies from the front of our house.

Hopefully this weekend we will plant a couple of Dogwood trees in our front yard. My parents have dogwoods and I've always loved them.

We planted 7 poplar trees last year. They started out in our bedroom for several months when they were about 3 inches tall. Michael has babied them for 3 years!

Carter is standing behind one of our trees. It's almost as tall as him!

And this is what they will hopefully look like!

I have not watched much television these past few weeks. But I do keep up with two shows online!

Reading...

I love to read.

I just started Dear Carolina and so far it isn't bad. It's different but not a bad different.

I just finished On the Island and I absolutely LOVED it! I can honestly say I loved everything about the book. It didn't disappoint!

I made my way thru First Love. I really wanted it to be good but it wasn't. At least the story made sense towards the end. I'm glad a read it but is wasn't one of my favorites.

I just ordered this book and another one of Colleen Hoover's books, Maybe Not. I read Maybe Someday a couple of months ago and it was a great story!

I love keeping up with my books on Goodreads!

I really do not listen to much. In the car we listen to random crazy stuff. The boys love listening to everything from praise and worship songs to Luke Bryan and the Tootsie Roll! They didn't care for Jimmy Buffet. I have to work on them!!

Yoga Pants.
I even wore jeans the other day with a cute tunic and my converse shoes. And of course I dress up church every Sunday! I just do not see a point in looking all cute when I stay at home with the boys.

Hopefully we are planting flowers, trees and veggies if it doesn't rain.

And this little fellow might come play with us Saturday! We love when Turner comes to play.

I think I want something similar to these for my front porch. I would probably paint them black since I have a white house with black shutters. It's a good thing my husband likes to build things. Something like this was $100 at Plow and Hearth. He can make it with scrap wood his has for free!

I want to plant something kind of like this in the planter.

Not much else is new. It's taken me forever to get this post completed because my computer is acting up! Michael needs to get it fixed so I can stay online! Haha! I guess he doesn't want to work on my computer when he works on them ALL day! At least he laughs at me when I call him complaining about it.

Show Us Your Life

Kelly's Korner is having your favorite DIY project today. We have several DIY projects around our house and I love all of them! I'm the dreamer and Michael builds it. I show and tell him what I like and he gets to build it.   Shanty 2 Chic has awesome plans and we have used several of them.

I love the Pottery Barn furniture but I can't stand the prices especially when you have to buy 2 of everything! I saw these plans online (probably Shanty 2 Chic) and Michael built them.

It came time to stain or paint them and I choose blue because this will probably be the only time I can have painted furniture.

We only had a couple of problems with this design (mostly my fault). See the overhang on the foot board and there is one on the head board. The bed can only be pushed so close to the wall and there is a huge crack. Thanks for Pinterest and my mother in law we came up with an idea. We have body pillows in cases that fit between the bed and the wall. And to keep them from falling the other side? Pool noodles wrapped in the foam egg crates in a long skinny pillow case. Both have worked perfectly!

Michael made a base for the toy chest as well because there is an air vent under it. It needs to be stained soon.

Here is what it looks like with the body pillow and the noodle. And their beds only look like this each Thursday when I wash the sheets!

I saw this idea on Pinterest. I wanted a bigger frame for my canvas. I've used it for wreaths as well.

I have a grey one too with a big "V" on it. It has also been on the mantle.

We made this and it was on our mantle for July. Jackson asked if we could hang it in his room so we did! I really need something on his dresser but what should I put on it? A lamp?

I fell in love with this idea. My boys bring home SO much art work from school it isn't funny. So I found random frames and Michael put steel in them. We hung them with command strips. Now the boys love hanging up their work. I just hung the crosses the twins drew at school today.

My Favorite by far....My farmhouse table and benches on my screened in porch. We have used this so much. We eat out there a lot when the weather allows.

Michael had fun doing this and he did a great job!

What's he making now? I wanted a ruler growth chart to go in our kitchen. Michael is over half way finished with this! I can't wait to hang it!

So there is a lot of our DIY projects. Jackson wants a garden this spring so we will be working on a raised garden bed. Let's home something grows besides weeds!!
